The next-gen AMD Radeon GPU lineup is reportedly going to be unveiled in just a couple of months, as the company gears up to take on the threat from the Nvidia RTX 5000 launch head-on. According to this latest leak, AMD is planning a slew of announcements for the CES tradeshow, which not only include the company’s new RDNA 4 Radeon RX 8000 graphics cards, but also new Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs.

While AMD is abandoning high-end GPU designs for the moment, and potentially leaving the very best graphics card mantle free for Nvidia to snatch with the RTX 5090, the new AMD RDNA 4 GPU lineup could still make a splash in the mid-range graphics card market.

This latest leak comes from the Chiphell forums, which is often a good source of tech leaks, where user zhangzhonghao has posted a long list of products that AMD is apparently planning to announce at CES in January 2025. The list includes “RDNA4” in the graphics card category, meaning AMD could be planning to lift the lid on its new PC gaming GPUs in just a few weeks.

This next generation of graphics cards range is expected to show AMD ray tracing take a performance leap, an area where the company has struggled against the competition from Nvidia. The company already incorporates some of its new tech in the PS5 Pro GPU, where Sony has stated that the chip has a ray tracing feature set “that AMD created as the next step in their roadmap architecture.” With AMD focusing on the mid-range, the new GPU lineup is expected to go up against the new Nvidia RTX 5070.

There were some other interesting products in the rumored CES product list too, including the AMD Strix Halo laptop chip, which is rumored to feature a mightily powerful integrated gaming GPU with up to 2,560 stream processors.

The list also says the AMD Ryzen 9900X3D and Ryzen 9950X3D are going to be unveiled at CES, along with an X3D gaming laptop chip codenamed Fire Range X3D. The AMD Ryzen 9000X3D release date has already been announced for November 7, 2024, but it’s rumored that only the Ryzen 7 9800X3D will be coming out then.

Not only that, but the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme is also going to be unveiled at CES, according to the post. This rumored handheld gaming chip is said to offer eight Zen 5 CPU cores, as well as an integrated RDNA 3.5 GPU with 1,024 stream processors, potentially making for a very potent Steam Deck 2 chip if Valve decides to use it.

Of course, none of this has been officially confirmed by AMD, so take this with a grain or two of salt for now, but it looks as though we’re heading for a showdown between AMD and Nvidia in the graphics card world come January 2025.
