Netflix has been making some big moves lately. They released their list of upcoming shows and games for this year and while that list had some names that made us quite excited, we also noticed that some names were missing. For instance, Netflix Games has dumped Don’t Starve Together. And it’s not the only one!

There Are Six Names Missing!

The streaming giant has decided to scrap six previously announced games from its mobile lineup. If you were looking forward to playing Don’t Starve Together, Tales of the Shire, Compass Point: West, Lab Rat, Rotwood or Thirsty Suitors through Netflix Games, that’s not happening anymore.

Netflix is trying to fine-tune its gaming portfolio, and these titles didn’t make the cut. And this isn’t the first time they’ve pulled the plug on games after hyping them up. Crashlands 2 was another game that was removed from their lineup, even after beta testing had started in some regions.

All of this is part of a bigger shift in Netflix’s gaming strategy. They seem to be moving towards narrative-driven games and titles based on their popular shows and movies rather than indie games. Take Netflix Stories, for instance, which is adding their popular shows like Ginny & Georgia and Sweet Magnolias this year.

So, What About the Games that Netflix Promised Like Don’t Starve Together?

Well, at least most of them are still launching elsewhere. Don’t Starve Together was supposed to be the first time the co-op survival hit would be available on mobile.

It was originally announced in June 2024 as part of a trio of Klei Entertainment games coming to Netflix. However, it’s still heading to mobile via Playdigious which is handling the port now.

Meanwhile, Lab Rat and Rotwood, the other two Klei Entertainment titles have also been axed from Netflix’s plans. Rotwood, at least, is still kicking on Steam in early access.

Then there’s Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game. It’s a cosy little life sim that was supposed to launch in fall 2024, but it got delayed to early 2025.

The Netflix Games logo has mysteriously disappeared from its website which pretty much confirms it won’t be part of Netflix’s lineup anymore.

Compass Point: West is another game developed by Next Games (which Netflix actually owns). It was one of the first titles ever announced for the platform. That makes its cancellation even more surprising.

And finally, there’s Thirsty Suitors, a stylish, story-driven RPG developed by Outerloop Games and published by Annapurna Interactive for Steam and consoles. It was supposed to come to mobile via Netflix but now they’re out.

So, that wraps up our scoop on Netflix Games scrapping these games. Meanwhile, you can check out what else they’re offering on Google Play Store.
