NantGames has released a new update for their popular RPG MythWalker, adding a new feature called Tethering. A first for this kind of geolocation RPG, you no longer have to wander around Mytherra solo.
What Does the Tethering Feature Bring to MythWalker?
Tethering is a co-op system where you can take on story quests, fight enemies, and gather resources as a team in MythWalker. It lets up to three players join forces and explore together, even if they’re on different sides of the planet.
Everyone in the group gets to see and interact with that London-based map in real time. This kind of synchronous gameplay is a big deal for games in this genre. It means you’re no longer limited to whatever’s nearby in your real-world location and opens up a lot more ways to play.
Besides the co-op stuff, there’s a new type of enemy on the scene, the Wyldevae. They are the fairy-like creatures who look magical and graceful. But they are tricksters, and they pack a punch.
There are three kinds of Wyldevae showing up around Mytherra. There’s the moth-like Bergavae in the mountains, the fishy Strandavae on islands, and the dragonfly-inspired Fennavae lurking in the swamps.
Each type drops different items and powers, so you’ll probably want to hunt them all. There are also fresh quests focused on these creatures. It lets you dive deeper into what they’re about and why they’ve suddenly appeared.
Do You Play the Game?
If you haven’t played the game yet, here’s a quick rundown. MythWalker is a geolocation fantasy RPG on Android. You can go out and explore the real world to progress in the game, or stay home and use Navigators with Portal Energy.
The game drops you into Mytherra, a magical world parallel to Earth. There, you’re recruited by a mysterious being called The Child. She sets you off on quests, helps you uncover who’s attacking her world, and explores the deeper links between Earth and Mytherra.
