A trio of new Motorola phones was announced with the Edge 20 Pro, Edge 20 and Edge 20 Lite. The Pro model brings a flagship specs sheet with its 6.7-inch OLED display of speedy 144Hz refresh rate, 108 main cam and 8MP periscope module with 5x optical zoom. The Edge 20 houses the same 144Hz OLED panel and 108MP main shooter but substitutes the periscope for an 8MP telephoto module with 3x optical zoom. Edge 20 Lite dials back to a 6.7-inch 90Hz OLED and 108MP main cam.

Edge 20 Pro brings a Snapdragon 870 chipset with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage while the Edge 20 gets Snapdragon 778G with 6/8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Edge 20 Lite is left with a Dimensity 720 alongside 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The Edge 20 and 20 Pro share a 16MP ultrawide cam alongside the main 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor while the Edge 20 Lite gets an 8MP ultrawide snapper and 2MP depth helper.

In terms of battery capacity, the Lite model is the leader of the pack with its 5,000mAh cell and 30W charging. The Edge 20 Pro gets a 4,500mAh cell while the vanilla model is left with a 4,000mAh cell and both also come with 30W charging speeds.

The software front is covered by My UX on top of Android 11 and all three phones support the Ready For PC interface which brings a traditional desktop-like look when connected to an external display.

Interestingly Motorola will bring only one Android version update and just two years of software support. The reasoning on Moto’s side is that most users don’t keep their phones for more than two years though that is certainly a controversial statement and behind the curve compared to other smartphone brands.

Pricing for the Motorola Edge 20 Pro starts at €699.99/£649.99. Edge 20 will go for €499.99/£429.99 while Edge 20 Lite will go for €349.99/£299.99. All three phones will be available later in August and will eventually make their way across Europe, Latin America and Asia. Motorola did not announce any plans to bring the handsets over to the US for now.
