2025 lies ahead with a whole new year of gaming, but some things never change — such as Call of Duty and Fortnite holding firm in the top spots of our latest Xbox gameplay chart. While we’ve all had a blast with the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle achievements (it really is a contender for one of the best Game Pass games out there), Indy has taken a tumble this week with Minecraft replacing it in the top three.Indiana Jones and the Great Circle hasn’t fallen too far, only dropping to seventh this week. Single-player games don’t tend to have too long a shelf-life on these gameplay charts, but Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a major release (and an excellent one — take a look at Tom’s Indiana Jones and the Great Circle review for more) so it’ll likely hold firm in the top 40 for a while yet.We have a certain amount of reshuffling while Halo: The Master Chief Collection manages a sizeable jump from 22nd to 16th, but the next big change is Palworld re-joining the top 40 at 18th. Palworld is never gone from the chart for too long — its popularity and frequent content updates keep bringing it back, and the latest Feybreak update added new Xbox achievements along with a big new island, new pals, and more.Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, meanwhile, has seen a sizeable drop from 14th to 22nd. The game has been out for over a month, and some players might have taken a break since to try other big holiday releases like the new Indy adventure, but Tom’s Stalker 2 review has a lot of praise for GSC Game World’s sequel. We have several other reappearances this week with Hogwarts Legacy at 34th, Carrion at 36th, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition at 39th. Hogwarts Legacy had a massive discount over the holiday period which might have sent players flocking to try one of the best winter games, while Carrion recently joined Xbox Game Pass. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition likewise saw a big discount over the holidays, and as it remains one of the best Xbox open-world games out there, is always a good choice for a gaming session. Rounding up the top 40 is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, which has dropped ten places this week.Top 40 Xbox Gameplay Chart for the week ending January 5, 2025Chart compiled using gameplay data from over 2.4 million active Xbox accounts.
