Microsoft is working with developer Certain Affinity to create a Monster Hunter-style game that will be exclusive to Xbox, a new report claims. The news comes from both GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb and Jez Corden over at Windows Central. Grubb said on a recent Giant Bomb show (thanks, VGC) that Microsoft is “working with Certain Affinity on what seems like a Monster Hunter style game – a Monster Hunter clone.” Grubb’s report was then corroborated by Corden, who says that after speaking to his own separate sources, the game is real and is codenamed Project Suerte.According to Corden, Suerte is in development with Certain Affinity, and the studio has been working on the game since the summer of 2020. Whatever this Monster Hunter-style game is, Corden says it will likely be revealed in 2023 and launch in 2024, though this could change. Certain Affinity is largely a support studio that was founded in 2006 by former Bungie developer Max Hoberman. The developer has had a close partnership with Microsoft for years now and has worked on numerous Halo games (including Halo Infinite), Doom (2016), a bunch of Call of Duty titles, and Left 4 Dead. The studio’s own projects include Crimson Alliance and Age of Booty, which launched for the Xbox 360. It’s also currently working on Transformers Online and another game called Last Expedition, which will be a play-to-earn FPS title powered by the blockchain. Corden also notes in his report that he’s “received some separate hints” that Certain Affinity might be working on a new mode for Halo Infinite, which could be something similar to a battle royale mode, or something different entirely. What do you make of the rumour? Give us your thoughts down in the comments!
