Monster Hunter Rise coming to Xbox and Game Pass in January — report

Monster Hunter Rise, the latest game in Capcom’s best-selling hunting action series, could be coming to Xbox early next year according to a new report, which also claims that Rise will be joining Game Pass on day one.Originally released last year as a Switch exclusive, Monster Hunter Rise offered an even more accessible take on the franchise than Monster Hunter: World, with somewhat simpler combat, way greater mobility thanks to the Wirebug, and the addition of Palamutes — canine companions that can both be ridden and join you in battle. Now, Insider Gaming reports that Rise will break free from the Pitfall Trap of exclusivity in early 2023 and land on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, even offering a potential launch date of January 20th for the day-one Game Pass drop, with massive expansion Sunbreak apparently set to release shortly after. Monster Hunter Rise heading to Game Pass in 2023, claims reportWhile it would be a little unusual for a Nintendo Monster Hunter game to find its way onto other platforms, it would seem to make sense on this occasion. A Monster Hunter: World sequel has been more or less an inevitability since it became Capcom’s biggest game ever, but there’s a good chance that recent world events and longer dev times for modern hardware will have meant a follow-up could still be a fair way out. A port of Rise — apparently bringing the game up to a full 4K60 on Xbox Series X — would be a great way to fill the gap for fans, especially with a Game Pass drop likely to entice those who have already rinsed Rise to double-dip… yes, I think I will, thank you very much. It’s still only a rumour until it’s officially confirmed by Capcom, of course, so don’t start up the BBQ Spit just yet, although with The Game Awards just around the corner and promising all kinds of announcements, there’s a chance this news could be confirmed sooner rather than later if an announcement is planned for next week’s show. While we wait to find out, you can check out some other Xbox games like Monster Hunter, or take a look at all of the other games coming to Game Pass that have actually been confirmed. Will you be busting out your Hunting Horn to play songs of delight if this turns out to be true?
