Minute Maid Park in Houston is home to the Astros, but it doubled as a concert venue last week for artist Bad Bunny. The concert may have brought in more business, but it left the field in unacceptable conditions for its MLB players.

In a Tweet posted by Talkin’ Baseball, the outfield is shown in unfavorable conditions with uneven patches of grass and some areas slightly torn up. Harris Country Sports Authority Houston CEO Janis Burke spoke to KHOU-11 about the situation and how it’ll be handled.

Burke stated that the Harris County Sports Authority Houston is responsible for maintaining the field, and after speaking to them, they “[were] assured that by post-season, the grass will be replaced, and they are working to fix that grass.”

The Astros are chasing postseason success, so it’s important that their grass is usable.

The Astros are chasing postseason success once again

The Astros are on track to make the playoffs this season and potentially the World Series once again. They lost the championships last season, but they have one of the highest projected winning projections this season.

According to FanGraphs, Houston has a 100 percent chance of making the playoffs and a 13.7 percent chance of winning the World Series. That’s the fourth-highest chance at World Series glory, and given that anything could happen between now and the end of the season, the Astros have a legitimate chance of achieving it.

Ideally, this is a learning experience for a Houston franchise that ought to be fully focused on the playoff chase, rather than bringing in extra revenue from a Bad Bunny concert.
