I’m glad Square Enix continues to give the SaGa series this much attention with remakes, ports, new mobile games, and more, but the real surprise is that we almost always see mobile versions of said remakes and ports. Today, Square Enix had a SaGa livestream in Japan, and the company announced a remaster of the PS2 remake of the Super Famicom original (yes) Romancing SaGa game. Romancing SaGa: Ministrel Song Remastered is an enhanced version of the PS2 release coming to iOS, Android, Switch, PS5, PS4, and Steam with enhancements. These have not been detailed yet, but this release will finally bring the original Romancing SaGa to modern platforms. The second and third entries have been released on mobile and more with even newer games in the series like SaGa Scarlet Grace: Ambitions ($29.99) hitting multiple platforms. Watch the Romancing SaGa: Ministrel Song Remastered trailer below:
Until this new remaster, the game wasn’t available outside Japan and North America on PS2 either, so this release is even more important like the recent Chrono Cross enhanced release that brought it to current non mobile platforms. Romancing SaGa: Ministrel Song Remastered will release this Winter on iOS, Android, PS5, PS4, Switch, and Steam. Until then, you can grab SaGa Scarlet Grace: Ambitions on the App Store for iOS here and Google Play for Android here or Romancing SaGa 2 and Romancing SaGa 3. Square Enix also brought SaGa Frontier Remastered to mobile following its console and PC release. Check out the official English website for the series here and the Japanese website for the remaster here. Have you played Romancing SaGa: Ministrel Song on PS2 before, or will this be the first time you play it?
