Minecraft ray tracing on Xbox Series X|S removed after Mojang admits mistake

Earlier this week, some Xbox Insiders with the latest Minecraft Preview build on Xbox Series X|S found they could turn on a new ray tracing option, leading many to believe that the feature would be coming soon. As it turns out, it was simply a mistake by Mojang Studios and it will be removed. In a tweet, the Minecraft team said it had “inadvertently included prototype code” for raytracing support on Xbox Series X|S consoles. This prototype code has now been removed from the Preview, with the team saying it “doesn’t signal near future plans to bring raytracing support to consoles.”Mojang Studios rolled out ray tracing for Minecraft on PC back in 2020 and has also been teasing it on Xbox Series X since then too, but the feature has since failed to materialise on consoles. While Mojang has pulled ray tracing support from Xbox consoles for now, hopefully, we will still see the feature implemented later on down the line. Would you like to see ray tracing added to Minecraft on Xbox consoles? Let us know your thoughts about the feature down in the comments.
