Mike Tomlin took a not-so-subtle shot at Melvin Ingram after trade to Chiefs

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin took a bit of a shot at linebacker Melvin Ingram after he was traded to the Chiefs.

Over the past week, reports surfaced that Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Melvin Ingram could potentially be on his way out of town. That ended up happening ahead of the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday, with the Steelers sending him to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ingram was clearly unhappy with Pittsburgh and it just wasn’t a good fit. Mike Tomlin saw all of this first hand and he decided to send the ‘backer out of town with some not-so friendly parting words.

Mike Tomlin didn’t hold back on Melvin Ingram after Steelers-Chiefs trade

As you can tell from Tomlin’s quote, the coach didn’t think that Ingram was buying into things and that he was ready to continue his playing days elsewhere. A former Pro Bowler with the Chargers, Ingram arrived to Pittsburgh last offseason and he had high hopes to make a monster impact with the team.

Instead, he ended up appearing in six games, making one start, and only recording 10 tackles and one sack. Things weren’t going well for him in Pittsburgh, which is why the Steelers made sure to trade him before it was too late.

This move makes plenty of sense for the Chiefs, as the defense has been incredibly inconsistent this year. The same can be said for the offense, as Patrick Mahomes really is looking like a completely different player this season and we don’t mean that in a good way.

Ingram will now have a fresh start in Kansas City. It doesn’t look like Tomlin is going to miss having him around the locker room with the rest of the Pittsburgh players one bit.
