With Sony moving full steam ahead with its PS5 Pro mid-gen refresh, there has been a lot of talk about what hardware is coming next for Team Xbox. According to a new report, the next generation of Xbox will feature both a traditional console and an Xbox handheld. An Xbox handheld is reportedly in the worksAs per Windows Central’s sources, Microsoft is supposedly hard at work on its next-gen Xbox hardware, which will include a “traditional-style” follow-up to the Xbox Series X and an Xbox handheld, which is said to be Microsoft’s “own take on the Steam Deck.”Rumors about an Xbox handheld have been floating around for a while now, especially after Phil Spencer spoke on the possibility of a portable Xbox console back in June. Unfortunately, nothing concrete has been revealed about Microsoft’s future console plans, but according to Xbox president Sarah Bond, the team is “focused” on the next Xbox console generation, which will apparently deliver “the largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation.”It remains to be seen whether a portable Xbox could capture some of the handheld market from the likes of Valve and Nintendo, but a recent TrueAchievements poll suggests it could be in with a shot. Around 70% of respondents in our poll said they were interested in the idea of an Xbox handheld.
