Microsoft is reportedly moving closer to finalising a deal with Hideo Kojima to publish a new game by the legendary video game designer. According to a new report from VentureBeat, Microsoft and Kojima have signed a “letter of intent,” meaning both parties have “agreed to a generalized deal,” and lawyers are now hashing out the finer points and working out specifics. Although this sounds very promising, a letter of intent simply means that the parties involved intend to work together to enter into a more formal agreement. Nothing yet has been finalised or announced by Kojima or Microsoft.VentureBeat says that Microsoft and Kojima have been in talks over a partnership for months now, and it is “more likely than ever that those conversations will bear fruit.” The report goes on to say that the deal is so close to being finalised that “Microsoft has begun preparing for what Kojima will need to make his new game.”Earlier this month, Microsoft hired Portal’s lead designer, Kim Swift, as a senior director of Cloud Gaming for Xbox Game Studios. It’s rumoured that Swift will be working closely with Kojima Productions on its next game. What do you make of the rumour? Would you like to see Kojima publish a game exclusively on Xbox?
