Along with an update on the company’s finances for its Q2 2024 report, Remedy Entertainment also provided an update on how the ongoing projects in the studio are going. The Max Payne 1&2 Remake on the way is now officially in the full production phase, which is exactly on schedule per the last time Remedy provided an update on the games development.Control 2 on the other hand has gone beyond the concepting phase and into the production readiness phase, which is to say that Remedy is making the necessary preparations that it can kick off full production for Control 2.Beyond those two projects, Remedy also has Project Condor, which it also provided an update on saying that Condor is now in full production. If you don’t recall what Project Condor is, it’s a Control spin-off game that we last heard was still in its concepting phase back in April 2022.Chief executive officer Tero Virtala gave specific updates on each of Remedy’s ongoing projects in the report. For Condor, Virtala said “The development team has worked on multiple maps and different mission types, and we have organized a growing amount of internal and limited external playtesting for feature validation and feedback.”For the Max Payne remakes, Virtala said “The development team has been working towards developing the game to an early functional state from beginning to end while focusing on key differentiating gameplay features.”And for Control 2, Virtala said “The development team reached an important milestone in delivering a build of the game that showcased several important features in playable form. This was used in a large-scale internal playtest to gather valuable feedback. The development team is working towards scaling up the project’s production.”Out of all three updates, the news regarding Control 2 seems the most significant as it’s the first confirmation that Remedy has a something playable ready for the highly-anticipated sequel.Condor’s update doesn’t exactly tell us much, especially when there’s still a question mark around what kind of game Condor will end up to be.Hopefully we’ll begin to hear more about Condor soon, since it is now in full production, and could potentially be the next game we see out of Remedy.Especially since we can reasonably expect that the studio is more streamlined in its focus, after it cancelled Project Kestral earlier this year in a call similar to Naughty Dog’s cancellation of Factions, in the sense that it was a decision made so the studio could focus on the things it’s is really good at, instead of changing everything to support one brand new thing.Source – [Remedy Entertainment]
