Marvel’s Midnight Suns launches on December 2nd, and review embargoes have now lifted. Here’s what the critics are saying about Firaxis’ Marvel-themed tactical RPG. Spoiler alert: It’s all very positive.A lot of praise has been heaped upon Marvel’s Midnight Suns, with many saying that Firaxis has, once again, nailed that turn-based tactical RPG formula. One thing to note here is that all reviews were based on the PC version of the game — nobody has had the chance to play this on console just yet. Marvel’s Midnight Suns reviewsVGC – 5/5: “Marvel’s Midnight Suns combines addictive, deep strategy gameplay with a cast of characters that make the moments outside of the action just as rich and enjoyable as those in it. A lengthy campaign packed with missions to go on and relationships to form with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes make Marvel’s Midnights Suns a modern strategy classic and one of 2022’s biggest surprises.”God is a Geek – 9.5/10: “Firaxis are the bosses of this genre hasn’t been this clear since the launch of XCOM: Enemy Unknown. They’ve ripped out the insides of their own machine and replaced it with an Adamantium skeleton, then given it a little hotrod-red for the hell of it. It’s fun, flashy, and silly at times, but also incredibly deep and strategic where it counts. It’s a sprawling beast of game, and once again proves that Firaxis are the undisputed masters of their craft.”PCGames N – 9/10: “A superhero game that teases the brain as much as it can tug at the heart, with rich strategy mechanics, great writing, and wonderful characters. A few bugs and visual problems aside, this is a great tactical RPG.”PC Gamer – 88/100: “Midnight Suns wants to storm into your room and pull you by the arm into the party. Whether that’s what every strategy head wants is to be determined. But if you can meet Firaxis on its own terms, you’ll be dazzled.”IGN – 8/10: “With Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Firaxis has put itself in the league of RPG developers like BioWare, Obsidian, Bethesda, and Larian. Its innovative turn-based hero combat system takes a bit of time to get going, but once it does it makes excellent use of card game mechanics to keep battles fresh, evolving, and unpredictable over the course of an epic-length campaign – bashing enemies into things for increased damage is endlessly entertaining.”GamesRadar – 4/5: “Marvel’s Midnight Suns works wonders to freshen up familiar Marvel characters, producing lively battles from focused turn-based systems, then diving into their personalities and histories to reveal their intimate concerns. The combat missions can feel a little side-lined by the sheer wealth of resource management tasks and relationship building, but all the pieces serve a purpose within the richly detailed whole. Marvellous? Pretty much.”Destructoid – 7.5/10: “It isn’t what I expected, in a good way. It’s incredibly easy to recommend to any Marvel fan, and is simple enough to pick up and play for strategy newcomers. Although the highs aren’t as high as some of Firaxis’ past work, those of you who latch onto the relationship building, social network, and silly moments will find a lot of joy here: I absolutely wouldn’t be surprised to see Hunter cosplay at future conventions.”Will you be checking out Marvel’s Midnight Suns when it lands on Xbox Series X|S later this week?
