Marvel Rivals Season 1 is set to be huge, and the game’s latest reveal doesn’t just indicate whole new gameplay possibilities, but also teases a massive expansion of the game’s lore. Not only are we getting the Fantastic Four as playable characters, but we’ll also be fighting a surprising vampiric villain that you don’t see in Marvel media all that often. Don’t worry, I’m not talking about Morbius.
First up, NetEase Games has finally given us the Marvel Rivals Season 1 release date. We’ve only got a few days to wait, too, as it’ll be dropping on Friday January 10. This is also when the Fantastic Four will start coming to the multiplayer game as new characters, alongside plenty more new material to keep you busy after Season 0.
It’s also been confirmed that Season 1 of Marvel Rivals is called Eternal Night Falls, and it focuses on a world where New York has been plunged into darkness. This is a realm inhabited by the Fantastic Four, though, and that means they’ll be joining forces with all the other Marvel Rivals characters to fight none other than Dracula himself.
As for what this means for the war between the two Dooms, here’s what NetEase Games has to say alongside the announcement: “Darkness engulfs New York as the Timestream Entanglement leaves Doctor Strange trapped in the Entangled Astral Plane, scattering the Darkhold pages. Dracula and Doctor Doom disrupt the moon’s orbit, plunging the city into eternal night and unleashing an army of vampiric creatures.
“With the world on the brink, the Fantastic Four join forces with iconic Marvel heroes, standing together in the epic battle to break the mystical darkness with science. Ignite the battle against Dracula with the Fantastic Four in Marvel Rivals!”
As of right now, it’s unclear how NetEase Games plans to release the Fantastic Four and any other Season 1 content (like potential maps or game modes), but I’ll let you know as soon as I learn more.
Marvel Rivals Season 1, called Eternal Night Falls, is scheduled to start on Friday January 10 at 1am PST / 4am EST / 9am GMT / 8pm AEDT.
Don’t forget there are free skins and other cosmetics to unlock with all the Marvel Rivals codes and Marvel Rivals events that are happening.
