Rumor has it that PS5 exclusives in 2025 will include a smaller, stand-alone game from a major franchise, similar to Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Sony has been toying with stopgap releases amid an increasingly lengthy wait in between major games, and it looks like 2025 will get an “expand-alone” title too.
2025’s PS5 exclusives could include a smaller God of War game
Rumors have been swirling for a while that the original God of War trilogy is being remastered. As we said before, it looks like wires were crossed somewhere because known insider Tom Henderson had claimed that a God of War game starring young Kratos in Greece was indeed in the works, but it was a new game rather than a remaster.
Now, journalist Jeff Grubb has corrborated Henderson’s report, and claims to have heard from his source that “there’s still a Greek God of War thing coming out this year, but it’s not a remaster collection. It’s a new side-story project.”
We’re guessing that it’ll be a stand-alone expansion of sorts (or expand-alone, as some call them) similar to Miles Morales and The Lost Legacy. In a separate post on Bluesky, Grubb reiterated that the God of War project he’s referring to is a video game.
We won’t be surprised if this turns out to be true, but don’t hold your breath just yet.
