Madden NFL 17 servers to close later this year

EA has announced that the servers for Madden NFL 17 will be closing on December 7th, for both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions of the game. The announcement was made by a member of the EA Madden team, via EA Answers HQ, and notes that both Madden NFL 17 and Madden NFL Blitz will be retired at the end of the year. Interestingly, the EA Online Services Shutdown page says that Madden NFL 17 will have its services shut down on December 3rd, so if you have achievements to mop up before the closure, we’d recommend you look to finishing it before December 3rd just to be safe. The closure will affect the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions of the game, but offline modes will still be available to play after the dates listed above.Madden NFL 17 has an estimated completion time of 15-20 hours, with only 3% of 64,000 TA players having completed it. It looks like it shouldn’t be too much of a grind to complete, with only The Champion and Tom Brady Legacy Award achievements offering a bit of a challenge. The Champion requires you to complete a Draft Champions draft undefeated, and the Tom Brady Legacy Award tasks you with creating a player, coach, or owner and earning a legacy score of over 25,000 with them. There are, however, five achievements flagged as unobtainable or partly discontinued, so a full completion could be off the cards anyway. We recommend you aim to have Madden NFL 17 finished by December 3rd to be safe, just in case the December 7th announcement was a mistake. Thanks, lor for the news tip!
