“Ten years in the joint made you a…” pro Yakuza player. With up to 70% off some of the most notable games in the Yakuza franchise, now is the perfect chance to complete your collection or experience this iconic series from the beginning. Perhaps it’s time to don your sharpest suit, step into Kamurocho, and unleash the Dragon of Dojima? Or maybe just a bit of karaoke? Everyone loves a rendition of Baka Mitai right? Well, this quirky action series has you covered from all angles.

I recommend starting with Yakuza Zero because it’s the first game chronologically and arguably the best in the series. It’s a simple plot about Kazuma Kiryu, a low-ranking member of the Dojima Family, getting mixed up in murder. It’s a little bit of a slow starter, but trust me when I say, if you stick with it, you’ll find that it is both one of the best crime games and one of the best action games of all time.

The game offers hours and hours of content, from the Real Estate Royale mini-game where (as you might guess) you can buy real estate, to Pocket Circuit Fighter, where you fight to regain a lost title. In addition, fan-favourite, Goro Majima, is a fully playable character for the first time in this one. He loves to show his face to antagonize our Kiryu.

Like A Dragon is another great one. It’s significantly different from the more traditional Yakuza games, so you might enjoy it even if you have issues with the others. The combat system is turn-based RPG instead of the usual beat ‘em up style. This is mainly because this game follows Ichiban instead of Kiryu, and Ichiban has an obsession with Dragon Quest – yes that’s genuinely the reason. Ian Boudreau said in our Yakuza: Like a Dragon review, “An utterly charming yarn about friendship and kindness that breathes gritty modern life into the quaint JRPG format of classic Dragon Quest.”

Of course, there is more to the series than just these two titles. Most notably, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth which contains Dondoko island. It’s basically Animal Crossing New Horizon, offering fishing, bug catching, crafting, farming, and wholesome times. Who’d have thought it of a Yakuza game?
