Yet another chip has been knocked off the price of the Lenovo Legion Go gaming handheld, taking it to its lowest ever price. Listed for just $479.97 right now, the Legion Go is selling for just under a third of its original recommended retail price, adding more fuel to the fire of those rumors that Lenovo is planning to release a new update very soon.
It’s a tough ol’ game out there for the best gaming handheld PCs, and Lenovo has faced stiff competition from other big players. Despite that, the Lenovo Legion Go has made its mark thanks to its big screen and detachable controller design. It’s a fantastic option for gamers who need the versatility, with specs that easily beat the original Steam Deck and give the Asus ROG Ally a run for its money.
Looking more closely at its design, it offers two Nintendo Switch-style removable controllers that clip conveniently onto the sides but then can also be used to control the device from a little further away. You can even plug the Legion Go into your TV and use the controllers to play from your sofa.
Not that you need a second screen, as the huge 8.8-inch display on the Legion Go looks amazing, with its pin-sharp 1600p resolution and vivid colors. It can’t quite rival the contrast of the Steam Deck OLED‘s display but it’s still a lovely panel to peruse.
You’ve got plenty of horsepower under the bonnet of this handheld too. It uses the same eight-core AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU as in the Asus ROG Ally, with it also housing a GPU with 12 RDNA 3 Compute Units. It also includes 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, along with two different storage options of 512GB or 1TB, although you can upgrade this manually later.
So you’re getting great specs and an even greater price, but there’s more than just a Black Friday deal going on here. Newer handhelds like the Asus ROG Ally X have laid down the gauntlet, offering bigger and better performance. With those Legion Go 2 rumors bubbling, these discounts are a strong indicator that older stock is being cleared, ready for a fresh upgrade to launch, although it’s important to stress that Lenovo haven’t announced one – yet.
Don’t let that put you off, though. This is still a great handheld for gamers, and at under $500 you’d be hard pressed to find any gaming PC or laptop that offers the power and portability that the Legion Go offers. You’d better be quick, though, as the last big price cut caused the stock to run out fast.
