Watch Dogs: Legion is coming to Game Pass soon, which means Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Standard, and PC subscribers can work through the Watch Dogs: Legion achievements without having to pay for what is a somewhat middling Xbox open world game. Watch Dogs: Legion is worth checking out with Xbox Game PassWatch Dogs: Legion joins Game Pass on February 25, 2025Game Pass tiers: Ultimate, Standard, PC Game PassPlatforms: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PCOn paper, Watch Dogs: Legion sounds like a treat: dystopic open-world London setting, more stealthy hacking gameplay that the series is known for, and a new mechanic that allows you to play as pretty much any non-playable character dotted around the world. In reality, all of this doesn’t quite come together in the way Ubisoft would have wanted, and although Legion is nowhere in the same league as Watch_Dogs 2, it’s definitely still worth firing it up if you’re yet to play it and have Game Pass. I was pretty down on the game in my Watch Dogs: Legion review, primarily because of some awful technical issues that have since been remedied, but I really enjoyed the London dystopia setting and some of the unique gameplay elements. Ubisoft has packed Legion’s London full of detail, especially around iconic landmarks. I know mileage will vary here for many, but I always really enjoy a bit of virtual tourism in a game and heading off to a place I know well in the real world to see how it’s been represented digitally. The setting and the oppressive atmosphere are probably my favorite things about Legion. For the most part, the gameplay is good fun, too. If you’ve played Watch_Dogs 2, you kind of know what to expect, though there are some differences here, thanks to one new addition. Legion has a unique mechanic where you can recruit and play as nearly all of the NPCs walking around London’s streets. Each NPC has their own special abilities and skills. For instance, you could recruit a construction worker who has the ability to call in a cargo drone and then use that drone to ride around the city and infiltrate gang hideouts, or you could find a Buckingham Palace guard and use them to stroll into the Queen’s gaff unopposed. If you have the option enabled, you can lose your newly-acquired operatives with all their special skills to permadeath, which adds a nice bit of tension. This mechanic, and what it does for combat and the overall gameplay, is really interesting and great to mess around with for a while. It does fall a bit flat if you don’t switch things up and rely on just one operative that matches your playstyle, but overall, it’s pretty good. If I hadn’t reviewed Watch Dogs: Legion, I wouldn’t have purchased it myself, especially after the lukewarm reviews from both critics and players. I’d imagine there are many out there who still haven’t played Legion for those reasons despite the game getting some pretty steep discounts. Now that it’s coming to Game Pass, I’d definitely say it’s worth checking out. It certainly won’t make your list of favorite games, but there’s a lot of fun to be had here — it’s one of those decently serviceable 7/10 games that you can get a good chunk of enjoyment out of and then forget.Watch Dogs: Legion, one of the upcoming Game Pass games set to join in the second half of this month, arrives on February 25. Will you be playing Legion? Have you already played it? Share your thoughts on the game down in the comments.
