LeBron James offers 2 things he needs to play in NBA with son Bronny

LeBron James and NBA fans have talked about the possibility of playing with son Bronny James but the Lakers star needs two things for that.

With LeBron James still performing for the Los Angeles Lakers like one of the premier players in the NBA along with the fact that his oldest son, Bronny James, is a rising high school basketball star set to head to college in just a couple of years, the notion of the father-son duo playing in the league together has been brought up plenty of times.

However, the Lakers star and future Hall-of-Famer hasn’t spoken of it all that often. But after Bronny played in what was still the Staples Center at the time with Sierra Canyon this weekend (against LeBron’s alma mater, St. Vincent St. Mary’s, it was a pertinent question.

Thus, reporters asked James about the possibility of playing with Bronny in the NBA and he said it was his son’s dream to make it to the league and that the “ultimate thing” for the two possibly playing together would be health and luck.

LeBron is actually spot on with his assessment of what it would take to play with Bronny in the NBA, be it with the Lakers or somewhere else.

James will turn 37 years old on Dec. 30 of this year while his son will enter the college basketball ranks in the 2023-24 season. That means Bronny James would be eligible for the NBA Draft in 2024, putting LeBron entering his age-39/40 season when his son would begin his rookie season.

All that is to say, it’s safe to say LeBron would no longer be at his peak at that point — unless he has Tom Brady-like DNA in terms of longevity — but it’s entirely possible he could hang around to play with his son.

For a player who has already accomplished just about everything a player could in the NBA, capping off his career by playing alongside Bronny would certainly be the cherry on top.
