Leah McCourt took on and defeated Jessica Borga at Bellator 267 by unanimous decision. Borga took it to McCourt the entire first round, able to move McCourt into some interesting submission attempts but ultimately leading to nothing. McCourt got into a rhythm in the second, landing a lot of strikes on Borga and changing the tone of the fight. The third round went much the way of the second, with McCourt tagging Borga all round.
While the commentators spoke about how McCourt was rising up the ranks of featherweight, it’ll be interesting to see how high she ascends up the Bellator rankings following the victory and if Bellator thinks she’s ready for a shot against Julia Budd or Cris “Cyborg” Justino.
