Kayla Harrison got the submission win over Cindy Dandois at PFL 6.
The 2021 PFL regular season wrapped up with the reigning women’s lightweight champion Kayla Harrison earning some momentum heading into the playoffs with a submission win over Cindy Dandois.
The fight opened up with both fighters feeling each other out on the feet before Harrison secured the takedown a couple of minutes into the first round. Despite multiple attempts from Dandois to transition out of the bottom position, Harrison seemed completely in control and in top mount for a majority of the round.
After sliding into side control near the end of the first, Harrison was able to quickly transition into an armbar and submitted the veteran Dandois to earn the finish and six points.
Despite the quick finish, Harrison was unable to clinch the top seed in the upcoming women’s lightweight playoffs. She needed a first-round finish within 4:16 but just barely didn’t get the submission in time. Larissa Pacheco, who earned the knockout win over Helena Kolesnyk earlier in the night, enters the playoffs with the top seed.
Kayla Harrison remains undefeated since making the transition to MMA
Harrison came into PFL 6 with a TKO win over Mariana Morais in her season debut last month.
The two-time Olympic judo gold medalist remains undefeated in her MMA career beginning with her professional debut during the 2018 PFL regular season against Brittney Elkin. After the cancellation of the 2020 regular season due to COVID-19, Harrison seems primed and ready to defend her PFL lightweight title.
