As part of the UFC‘s International Fight Week, and prior to the stacked UFC 276 event, a press conference will be held to promote the UFC 278 main event.

That card will be headlined by Kamaru Usman defending the UFC welterweight championship against Leon Edwards.

UFC 278 takes place on August 20 at the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, UT.

You can watch the UFC 278 press conference in the video player below beginning at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT on Friday, July 1 — prior to the start of the UFC 276 ceremonial weigh-ins.

Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards face off at UFC 278 press conference

This will be the second time that Usman and Edwards have faced off. The two battled in December 2015, months after Usman won the winner of The Ultimate Fighter season 21, with Usman claiming a unanimous decision.

This will also mark Usman’s sixth attempt at a UFC welterweight championship defense. He earned the title with a one-sided decision victory over Tyron Woodley at UFC 235 in March 2019.

Since then, FanSided MMA’s 2021 Fighter of the Year has successfully defended the title against Colby Covington twice, Jorge Masvidal twice and Gilbert Burns once.

Usman has not suffered a defeat in the Octagon, and his only loss in his MMA came in his second professional bout.

Edwards has not lost a fight since the defeat to Usman. He’s gone unbeaten in his last 10 fights, with nine wins and a no-contest.

Edwards had a win streak that included victories over Vicente Luque, Bryan Barbarena, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Rafael dos Anjos.

After a fight with Belal Muhammad went to a no-contest, Edwards scored a win over Nate Diaz at UFC 263.

UFC 276: Israel Adesanya vs. Jared Cannonier takes place on Saturday, July 2, 2022, live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Follow along with FanSided MMA, who is on-site, for all your news and highlights.
