Jurassic World Evolution 2 will get both its first paid DLC and a free update next week on December 9th, the latter of which will include balance changes for the frequency of storms, diseases, and injuries. The Species Field Guide above shows Kronosaurus, the marine reptile coming with the Early Cretaceous pack on December 9th. The Early Cretaceous pack will also introduce the Wuerhosaurus, Minmi, and Dsungaripterus, which Frontier says we’ll learn more about over the week before the DLC arrives.Update 1 arrives for free on the same date, bringing more playable maps, quality-of-life changes, and bug fixes. From December 9th, you’ll be able to use the buildings and fences from the Department of Fish and Wildlife in Sandbox Mode, with the full set of buildings including restrooms, lagoons, hotels, viewing platforms, and more. There will also be Jurassic-park themed lagoons and aviaries available for Jurassic Park era Sandbox. You’ll also be able to use the five campaign maps — “the Arizona desert, the Washington State mountains, the Pennsylvania airport, the forests of Oregon, and Yosemite National park” — in Sandbox, along with the option of starting with a flat, treeless version of the maps.If you’ve been playing Chaos Theory or Challenge, you might have been having some trouble with diseases, storms, and injuries — one second your park is running beautifully, and your rating is high; the next second, a storm comes along to bankrupt you and wreck your rating. Well, Update 1 will bring some balance changes: storms and diseases should be less frequent in Chaos Theory, as will disease outbreaks in the easy or medium difficulty of Challenge levels. Changes to the Dominance stat should mean fewer dino fights, while injuries will be less likely. “Finally,” Frontier adds, “we’ve rebalanced the combat stats of dinosaurs that can be involved in group hunts.” An extra quality-of-life change will be that flying reptiles will perch on rocks, instead of all clumping together on top of the viewing gallery. Accessibility changes, meanwhile, include different subtitle colours, “an adjustable autosave frequency,” and the ability to pause during cutscenes. The DLC and the update will be available on December 9th.
