Although Naughty Dog is leaving Earth to explore the stars in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, they don’t seem to be leaving the roots they’ve established in The Last of Us. Thanks to some posts from artists working on the anticipated game, it seems it may delve into horror.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet artists possibly point to horror influence

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’s potential horror elements were pointed out by Youtuber Joanastic. Much of this is tied to artist Tye Martinez, an artist that specializes in cinematic horror and thriller concepts. Specifically, they photoshop real photographs to create some pretty haunting imagery. When the game was officially revealed, he announced that they worked on the game on X (formerly Twitter).

Martinez’s horror specialization may not be enough to solidify Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’s inclusion of horror elements. However, a post by artist Colin Lorimer announcing they also worked on the game uses the hashtag “horror”.

From those two clues, as well as Naughty Dog’s recent success within the horror genre, it seems Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will contain some horror elements. However, how much of the game is influenced by the genre is still unknown.

Like all rumors, take this information with a grain of salt. It really is just people speculating and connecting the dots that are currently known. We won’t really know more about the potential horror elements in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet until Naughty Dog reveals more.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet started making its way around the internet when Sony Interactive Entertainment trademarked the title almost a year ago. The game was formally revealed when it closed out The Game Awards 2024. Naughty Dog fans have criticized the trailer due to the “product placement,” including Porsche and Adidas. Others have concerns about the game’s protagonist Jordan. The game’s lead actress Tati Gabrielle reportedly mocked some of the backlash.
