Fancy a road trip adventure? Stylish indie RPG Get In The Car, Loser is changing the way you buy it, as developer Love Conquers All bundles its base offering and two expansion chapters into a single package to ensure everyone sees “the best parts” of the journey. It’s a delightful blend of visual novel-style dialogue and JRPG-inspired combat wrapped in vibrant pixel-art visuals and with a storming soundtrack, and you’ll now get the complete experience for one price.
Get In The Car, Loser is described by Love Conquers All as “a lesbian road trip RPG about fighting for love and justice in the face of indifference.” It features a relatable cast of characters that range from a heartfelt loser goth girlfriend to a literal angel. Its active-time combat draws inspiration from classic JRPGs, with gear-based progression that encourages experimentation on the fly to discover various builds and abilities based on who is using what item.
Initially made available to early adopters as a free Steam game, Get In The Car, Loser was eventually switched to a paid edition (priced at $10) in 2022. It was also supported after launch by two add-on story packs, each of which were made available for a further $10.
The first of these, ‘Battle on the Big Boardwalk,’ starts as a beach episode and quickly goes awry when a troublesome interdimensional sword thief appears in a wonderfully Final Fantasy-inspired turn. ‘The Fate of Another World, meanwhile,’ picks up after the climactic events of the main story, introducing new party members and another progression system.
Now, however, the three pieces are being combined into a single package priced at $25, meaning you’ll pay less than if you had bought each part separately. “I want everyone to get to experience the full story of Get In The Car, Loser including Battle on the Big Boardwalk and The Fate of Another World, which I think has some of the best parts of the game in them,” studio co-founder Christine Love writes.
“Working on those two extra stories is when the whole team really hit our stride,” she continues. “These chapters have hours of content, and they’re just as important to the story as what was in the base game. More importantly, though, I just want everyone to play them! Thanks to everyone for your three and a half years of support since the game’s launch. Whether you downloaded the game when it was free or bought all the DLC when it launched, I’m sincerely grateful for you joining us on Sam’s adventure.”
Get In The Car, Loser is available on Steam and Itch, priced at $24.99 / £20.99. Head here to take your seat on a memorable journey to conquer evil.
