Ascendant Studios is gearing up for a big update for Immortals of Aveum. The console versions will soon get High Dynamic Range (HDR) and FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 3 support, providing enhanced visual quality, optimized performance, and more mileage on the console hardware without requiring more horsepower. As reported by Digital Foundry, Immortals of Aveum will get two major updates that add significant technical enhancements to the action shooter game. The first one, patch 1.0.6.3, adds HDR support to the console versions. More interestingly, patch 1.0.6.4 adds support for AMD’s third-generation supersampling technology. The latter will be added to both the console and PC versions of Immortals of Aveum. The news itself is huge, as this will mark the first time FSR 3 is making its way onto consoles. FSR 1 and FSR 2 previously made their way onto consoles, but the tech was not widely adopted, especially in games that saw a release on PC and supported FSR, despite FSR being supported on ninth-generation systems, including the current iteration of the supersampling technology. Nevertheless, there are a few examples of consoles getting FSR support, such as the Xbox Series version of Scorn adding support for FSR 2 and Arcadegeddon getting FSR support on PS5 and PC. FSR 3 launched last September and is the latest iteration of AMD’s supersampling technology. Like its previous two iterations, FSR is compatible with AMD GPUs, Nvidia GeForce, and Intel Arc graphics cards. But FSR 3 stands out from its predecessors because it includes reduced latency and frame generation tech to provide an increase in frame-rates in games that support it. This boost is especially helpful on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, which are approaching their fourth year in the current hardware cycle amid rumors of console upgrades later in the year. Digital Foundry noted that Immortals of Aveum’s patch 1.0.6.4 will roll out “in just a few short weeks.”In IGN’s review of Immortals of Aveum, we wrote: “Immortals of Aveum is an impressively confident first-person shooter with a hearty solo campaign and fast-paced, spellcasting combat that’s spectacular to watch.” Taylor is a Reporter at IGN.
