Ascendant Studios’ FPS Immortals of Aveum didn’t meet with huge sales success when it launched earlier this year. According to CEO Bret Robbins, however, the team is in talks to bring it to Game Pass and is “pretty sure” of this plan going ahead.Ascendant Studios is in talks about Immortals of Aveum coming to both Game Pass and PlayStation Plus, Robbins says to Windows Central. “Yes, we are talking to them about getting the game onto both of those services. We don’t have a date yet, I’m pretty sure it’s gonna happen, though.” Tom had fun with the game in his Immortals of Aveum first impressions, but it didn’t prove to be hugely successful at launch. Robbins cites a number of reasons for this, such as major games like Starfield launching around the same time and the popularity of Baldur’s Gate 3. “I’ve never seen a year like this. It’s always hard to break through the noise when you’re a new IP or a studio people haven’t heard of before. Trying to create awareness for us was really, really difficult. It’s always hard for a new IP and this year made it 10 times harder,” he said.Soon after Immortals of Aveum’s launch, the company suffered layoffs with Robbins confirming that they had lost “about 45% of our team.” He adds to Windows Central, “The layoffs really sucked. There’s no two ways around that. We are not a big corporation. Our business relies on selling games, and we didn’t sell enough games. And that forced me to make that decision, which, it was really unfortunate. These are people I worked closely with, people that put their heart and soul into the game. You never, ever want to have to do that.” Interestingly, Robbins doesn’t appear certain that a Game Pass addition would have done much for Immortals of Aveum at launch, telling Windows Central, “To be honest, I don’t know.
