If, like many of us, LocalThunk’s Balatro devoured your life this year, Humble’s latest bundle is well worth checking out. The Devious Deckbuilders Encore game bundle packs in seven deck-building games, including Dungeons Drafters and Book of Hours, for a minimum donation of $19/£15.02 – and is sure to scratch your Balatro itch.

If you ask me, indie hit Balatro is not only one of the best card games of recent years but also one of the best roguelikes around. So its GOTY nomination at The Game Awards is thoroughly deserved. If this addictive poker roguelike has you crying out for more deckbuilding games in a similar vein, Humble has you covered.

The Devious Deckbuilders bundle offers seven indie deck-building games for a minimum donation of $19/£15.02. This bundle is valued at $159/£124.78 so you’re getting an overall 88% discount on the whole lot – saving you $140/£109.76.

Here’s the full list of games included:

  • Book of Hours
  • Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles
  • Dungeon Drafters
  • Zoeti
  • Gordian Quest
  • Floppy Knights
  • Mahokenshi – The Samurai Deckbuilder

A couple stand out in particular to me. Set in the 1930s, Book of Hours is a moody deck-building RPG where you play as a librarian building a collection of grimoires and arcana. There’s no combat here, so it’s a bit more laid back than Balatro, but if you love organizing and games with a dark, occult twist, you can’t go wrong with Weather Factory’s card game.

If you want something a bit more old-school, Gordian Quest is just the ticket. This roguelike deckbuilder is more action-focused, blending turn-based combat with card battling. In Mixed Realms’ game, you form and manage your party as you work your way through missions in an effort to destroy the evil cursing your land. If you’re fairly new to deckbuilders but love JRPGs, this could be the introduction to the genre you need.

In fact, regardless of whether you’re an avid deckbuilding fan or a total newbie, there’s something in this bundle for you. Want something more tongue-in-cheek? There’s Floppy Knights. How about something a bit different? Give dice deckbuilder Astrea a shot.

Buying this bundle supports Cool Effect, a non-profit platform that supports carbon emission reduction projects around the globe. Don’t spend too long hovering over the buy button, though, as this bundle is only available until Saturday, December 14, 2024.
