“I Don’t Think That’s The Last We’re Gonna See Peter” Says Insomniac’s Spider-Man Actor Yuri Lowenthal

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was a massive hit for PlayStation Studios and Insomniac last October, selling millions of copies immediately and has hit 10 million copies sold as of February 2024.Fans and critics alike loved this long-awaited sequel, which left just about as many questions regarding ‘what’s next’ as the 2018 game did. Fair warning, spoilers below.Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ends on a touching cliffhanger, that leaves players wondering what the situation will be for New York’s web-slinging heroes the next time we meet them.It mainly leaves players wondering if it’ll be Miles Morales taking the lead as Spider-Man, and if Peter Parker will remain involved, and to what capacity. This theory was only given fuel when two writers from Insomniac, narrative director Ben Arfmann and advanced writer Brittney Morris seemed to imply that Miles would be the one to carry the torch, with Peter taking a backseat. But Yuri Lowenthal, voice and motion capture actor for Peter Parker, doesn’t think fans should be quick to think Peter has been cast aside.“There have been some comments recently that were picked up to infer that Peter’s out and Miles is in. While I think that Peter would love to believe that he can just turn it off and not be Spider-Man anymore and live a completely normal life, I don’t think that’s what’s going to happen now.I don’t know. I haven’t read a script yet. They’re probably still working on it. But I don’t think that’s the last we’re gonna see Peter. I think it’s a cool place to leave it. It’s a cool change for him.I think 100% he trusts Miles. Miles has really stepped up and he’s like ‘Oh, maybe I can get a little break.’ And I did get a vacation to Symkaria during the Miles game. Not much of a vacation, but at least MJ got to learn to ride a motorcycle.”Source – [Variety via VGC]
