After less than two years, Ubisoft is closing the servers for its free-to-play battle royale title Hyper Scape on April 28th. The game has already been delisted from the Xbox Store. A post over on the Hyper Scape website doesn’t explain why Ubisoft has decided to close the game’s servers, but we imagine it’s down to a lack of players. “We have made the difficult decision to end development of Hyper Scape and shut the game down as of April 28th,” the post reads. “We set out to create a vertical, close-quarters, and fast-paced shooter experience, and we are extremely grateful to our community for joining us on our journey. We will be taking key learnings from this game into future products.”In a world that’s already filled with battle royale games, Hyper Scape had a tough job in trying to capture players’ attention. Sadly, it never quite lived up to the hype. Here on TA, Hyper Scape sits with a 2.84/5 community rating, while on Metacritic, it has a Metascore of 60. Naturally, when the servers close on April 28th, the entirety of Hyper Scape’s achievement list will be discontinued. Ubisoft has also pulled the game from the Xbox Store, so unless you already claimed it, you won’t be able to download it. Hyper Scape’s servers will close on April 28th. Thanks to everyone who sent this in as a news suggestion.
