Huge new medieval game is even bigger than Mordhau, already smashed funding goal

Bannerlords is getting a new DLC, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is still carving up Steam, and Manor Lords is becoming bigger and better thanks to dozens of successive updates. All told, medieval games are going strong, and if you’ve been eager for multiplayer hack-and-slash warfare in the vein of Mordhau and For Honor, today is definitely your day. Created by a small team of just over 20 people, Fiefdom pits up to 100 players against one another in sword-and-shield, magical, and even naval combat, and after just five days, it’s already obliterated its funding goal.

Created by White Tower, Fiefdom boasts four central game modes. At the core is ‘Battleground,’ where 100 players fight one another on a sprawling, quasi open-world map. There are three different factions to choose from and you can play as a straightforward knight, a magic-using spellcaster, or even a sailor – galleons can be used to transport your fellow troops, destroy enemy strongholds, and even fight other ships. Separated into realms, the Fiefdom map will change over time. Depending on who controls them and how often they’re contested, some regions will flourish while others will fall into ruin. It’s a medieval game with a persistent, organic world.

‘Assault’ is the next-largest game mode. Up to 64 players fight over small patches of territory and control points, similar to Conquest in Battlefield. After that, you can play a ‘Competitive’ game and hone your hand-to-hand combat in small-scale, close-up matches of 5v5, or ditch conventional warfare entirely and fight entirely on water in ‘Last Ship Standing.’

The Fiefdom Kickstarter campaign began on Wednesday March 26 and runs until Friday April. However, it’s already blasted past its funding goal, earning $67,471 / £56,413 against a target of $40,000 / £33,444. If you want to try it yourself, White Tower says that the first alpha for Fiefdom will arrive in September, with a full launch to follow at some point in 2026. You can already wishlist the game on Steam right here.
