If last year’s Mate 60 release is anything to go by, the Huawei Mate 70 series should be just around the corner. And even though the rumor mill has been particularly quiet about the Mate 70 Pro, a new leak suggests there will be some design and hardware changes compared to the Mate 60 Pro.

The leak is all about the back and the camera bump design. The shooters are still aligned in a circular formation, but the outer glass ring is thicker and the LED flash has been moved to the bottom of the ring along with a new inscription saying “AI-DC”. The writing may refer to improved image processing through AI.
Perhaps it’s no surprise that the Mate 70 Pro will run on a new Kirin 9100 chipset, but the main camera is also changing. The new Mate 70 Pro will employ a 60 MP main unit, instead of 50 MP, but the 12 MP ultrawide shooter and the 48 MP 5x periscope telephoto cam remain unchanged at least on paper.
The selfie on the front is also being replaced. The Mate 70 Pro will offer a 48 MP sensor there aided by the 3D ToF sensor for advanced facial recognition, replacing the older 32 MP unit.
