How to Spawn Dread in Doors
Spawning Dread into the game grants you the Dead of Night badge, but how do you encounter Dread? The method of spawning this entity has changed quite a bit since the Floor 2 update. Initially, you had to wait an hour in the reception room, but it’s much simpler (and quicker) now!
Floor 1 Method
When you’re inside a room that has a round clock placed on the wall (on both Floor 1 and 2) you’re able to spawn the Dread entity. Please keep in mind that the hotel reception room at the start of the game doesn’t count! It must be a room from Door 1 onwards.
If you find a round clock on the wall, remain in the same room for 7 to 8 real-time minutes. You can kill some time by wandering around the room, picking up any items you come across, and having a hydration break with a sip of your beverage. The most important thing to remember is to keep moving and not go AFK, otherwise it won’t work.
At the 5 to 6-minute mark, the lights in the room start to flicker and eventually go out with a crash. You’ll hear some music begin to play too, signifying that Dread is about to appear soon. Once all the lights go out, there’s a possibility of the Screech entity spawning as well as Dread. You know when Dread has spawned as your screen gets darker!
The aim is to survive the Dread encounter, as it can defeat you with one strike. If you’re captured by Dread, static appears on your screen, and you can no longer move. Keep an eye on the round clock on the wall, and once it strikes midnight, you can enter the next room. When inside the next room, you earn the Dead of Night badge!
Floor 2 Method
Within the Mines, the way to spawn Dread is a little different. Other than The Adit room, Dread can spawn anywhere if you spend a total of 10 minutes or more in the same room. Like the Floor 1 Method, you cannot be AFK in a room, so you need to keep moving for the entirety of the 10 minutes.
The signs of Dread’s appearance, such as the darkened screen, are the same in the Mines. It can still one-shot you if you’re not careful, so beware.
