How To Mine Ores In Dead Rails
So, what are ores, and how do you mine them?
Ore Rocks
You’ll find ore rocks along the Dead Rails route. They resemble large grey boulders, with nuggets of some kind of mineral sticking out. The color determines what’s inside.
- Rocks with black specks drop coal when broken.
- Rocks with gold specks drop gold when broken.
- You can sell gold nuggets for variable amounts at the Trading Post.
- Rocks with silver specks drop silver when broken.
- You can sell silver nuggets for variable amounts at the Trading Post, around half the price of gold nuggets.
Ore rocks will drop potentially several ore pieces, and a number of junk rocks.
How To Break Ore Rocks
There are several different ways to break ore rocks open. We’ll cover all the ones we’re aware of.
- Dynamite.
- You can blow the rocks up with a stick of dynamite by placing one down next to the rock. Light it with a torch, then retreat quickly to a safe distance. This should reduce the rock to rubble fairly quickly.
- Pickaxe
- The pickaxe is the Miner’s default equipment, and it’s best suited to cracking ore rocks open. Simply stroll over and give the rock a few taps with your pickaxe, and you’re set. Suddenly, the Miner is a much more appealing class.
