Lethal Company is a viral co-op survival indie horror game that was published on October 24, 2023, by the developer, Zeekeerss and the game is currently in early access. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic and retrofuturistic dystopian world. An anonymous corporate organization named the “Company” hires players on a contract to explore abandoned and industrialized moons to collect scraps for sale and meet a profit quota every 3 days. During these exploration adventures on the moons, players have to face many dangerous creatures, which range from completely harmless, almost comical creatures to instant one-hit killers.

These creatures are already scary enough as it is, creating near heart attack-inducing moments when they jump at you. However, the modders of the game took it upon themselves to add one more monster to the game by creating the “Mimics” mod. This mod adds a new monster to the game in the form of a fake Fire Exit. Hence, here is how to get the terrifying Mimics mod in Lethal Company. 

Fake Fire Exit in Lethal Company

The fake Fire Exit monster in Lethal Company is a monster that can only be added to the game using the Mimics mod. It is a terrifying monster that is a master in disguise, because it is disguised as an innocent Fire Exit. Once you open the fake Fire Exit, the monsters swallows you alive, leaving only your scrap and equipment behind. It just looks like the mouth of an insanely huge monster with lots of teeth as it shoots a large tentacle out of it and reels you in. 

The only ways to distinguish the fake from the real one are rare but not non-existent. Here are the ways to figure out which is the fake Fire Exit and which is the real one: 

• Check to see which Fire Exit has a brighter light on top, that is normally the fake one.
  
• Instead of saying “Exit” on the door, it will say “Feed” or “Die” which is a dead giveaway that it is the fake one.
  
• The color of the door is slightly more red or a different shade of red than the regular Fire Exit door.
  
• If you have a Shovel, go up to the Fire Exit and hit it, if you hear a growling sound that means it’s fake. However, if you hit it more than 3 times, it will get aggroed and kill you instantly.

Other than that, some moons have fixed Fire Exits which do not change and if you know where they are, you can easily tell which one is fake. However, if you enter from the Main Entrance and then find the Fire Exit, it can be hard to tell whether it is fake or not. Hence, be careful and do not let the Mimic kill you!

How to get the Mimics mod

Unfortunately, the Mimics mod is not a single mod so you have to go through a simple process with a few additional steps included to install the mod into the game. To install the mod, you need to install 2 different mods including the main mimic mod. However, it is truly worth it because who doesn’t want the creatures to haunt them in their dreams as well, right? Hence, here is the full process you need to follow to install the Mimics mod in Lethal Company:

Installing BepinExPack 

Here is how to install the BepinExPack file, which is a framework file that will help players use the mod properly: 

• Step 1: Go to the BepinExPack page and click on the “Manual Download” option.
  

• Step 2: Complete the download and then extract all the contents of the .rar or .zip file into the Lethal Company folder in Steam on your C Drive. You can easily do so by using the following location:

Once you’re done installing the BepinExPack file, you need to install the second file, the mod file which will allow players to have the new monster in the game, as long as they have the proper version of the mod installed.

Installing Mimics Mod

Here is how to install the Mimics mod file:

• Step 1: Go to the Mimics mod page and click on the “Manual Download” option.
  
• Step 2: Complete the download and then extract all the contents of the .rar or .zip file into the Lethal Company folder in Steam on your C Drive. You can easily do so by using the following location:

• Step 3: When or if a dialog box pops up and your system prompt asks you to replace certain files in the folder, agree to all of them.
