Want to craft a bow in Runescape Dragonwilds? To hunt the deer roaming around Bramblemead, you’re going to need to get your hands on some ranged weaponry. Thankfully, the process of procuring a bow is straightforward, assuming you know what to look out for.
During your first few hours in Runescape Dragonwilds, you’ll likely stumble on the main necessities as you make your way through the wise old man’s quest in the co-op game. The exception to this is the bow, which you need to hunt deer. The survival game makes you jump through extra hoops to secure both the bow and some arrows, but once you have it, you might not want to use your melee weapon ever again.
How to craft a bow in Runescape Dragonwilds
If you’ve been following the main quest, there comes a point where the wise old man will ask you to bring him some antlers so he can cast a locator spell. The only way to find antlers is by hunting deer, and while it’s technically possible to kill deer using a melee weapon, it’s considerably easier once you get your hands on a bow.
Spinning wheel requirements
To craft a bow in Runescape Dragonwilds, you first need to construct a spinning wheel. This allows you to turn the flax and fleece you’ve been collecting into threads. Once you have obtained your first bit of coarse thread, you instantly unlock a range of weapons and armory that can be created at the crafting table.
Here’s what you need to build a spinning wheel in Runescape Dragonwilds:
- 12x Ash Logs
- 4x Flax
- 2x Stone
You should have no problems finding ash logs and stone, but there’s a chance you haven’t been looking for flax. Flax is a blue plant that can be found all over Bramblemead—as soon as you know you’re able to pick this item up, you should have no issues finding four of them. Once you’ve acquired the required items, you need to build a spinning wheel under shelter.
With the spinning wheel set up, all you need to do is insert some flax or coarse animal fur and wait for the device to churn out some coarse thread. The second you pick up coarse thread from the spinning wheel, you automatically unlock the ability to craft a bow at a crafting table.
Bow crafting requirements
Here’s what you need to craft an Ash Shortbow in Runescape Dragonwilds:
- 12x Ash Logs
- 3x Coarse Threads
Arrow crafting requirements
That’s not all, unfortunately, as your bow has to have some arrows to deal damage. There are two types available at this point in the game: fang and stone arrows. We recommend opting for fang arrows as they deal slightly more damage for largely the same crafting materials. Arrows are crafted in batches, so you only need to craft three sets to equip yourself with 99 arrows.
Here’s what you need to craft Fang Arrows in Runescape Dragonwilds:
- 1x Ash Logs
- 1x Small Animal Fang
- 1x Feathers
To gather small animal fangs and feathers, just hunt some of the local wildlife. More specifically, chickens drop feathers, and small animal fangs can be found by hunting giant rats.
And that’s everything you need to craft a bow in Runescape Dragonwilds. If you are eager to know more about the building game, we have a Runescape Dragonwilds roadmap guide that highlights what’s coming ahead of the game’s launch in 2026.
