The Atomfall rats can be extremely frustrating, but there’s a way to counter them easily – well, it isn’t overly easy, but it’s doable.

Atomfall Rats Guide
There are a lot of things to keep an eye out for in Atomfall, rats included. Whether it’s the dangerous swarms of wasps, mutant birds, or zombies, rats are one of the most annoying ‘enemies’ to come across. If you don’t know how to counter them, you may find your HP depleting at an astronomical rate.
How to Counter Rats in Atomfall
Luckily, there’s a way to get rid of and avoid them!
Rat Nests
Rat nests are the main spawn point for the pests to appear. If you see one, you need to stamp it as soon as possible. This prevents any further rats from escaping the nest and attacking you – the same goes for wasps too. If you’ve encountered the rats already, you’ll know they don’t stop once they start.
If tons of rats start approaching you, this more than likely means a rat nest is close by. Whilst fending off those already biting you, quickly search for the nest (or nests – yes, there’s a chance that there could be more than one) before slamming your foot into it. It’s gruesome, but it has to be done (I, for one, love rats, but that doesn’t matter in the world of post-apocalyptic video games).
Watch Out For Poisonous Rats
Yep, they exist in Atomfall too. You want to try your best to not get bitten by one of these toxic rats. Not only do you take damage from the bite itself, but you’re also inflicted with poison damage. Beware around bodies of water as well! These rats aren’t the only poisonous creatures that have a taste for you.
Defeat the Rats
I recommend attacking oncoming rats from a distance. It’s best to keep as far away as possible, otherwise you’ll get overwhelmed. Depending on where the rat nest is, and if you find it, the rats will keep on coming, which depletes your bullets, but also makes it much harder to clear the swarm.
