Fisch Oarfish Guide
Having the Ocean as a location all on its own in Fisch makes catching the entire Bestiary quite a feat. There are 7 Mythical fish to collect when fishing in the wider waters of the Ocean, rather than just on specific islands. In this guide, I’m taking a closer look at the Oarfish, and the best way to catch it!
How to Catch the Oarfish
Now, the Oarfish is one of 7 Mythical fish in the Ocean, meaning you’ve got a 1 in 7 chance of catching one when you get the pink exclamation mark above your avatar’s head. To increase your chances of the Mythical being the one and only Oarfish, this fish type has some preferences that you can take into account.
To note, the Oarfish has no preference for the time of day, so you can happily fish during the daytime and nighttime when trying to catch it.
Weather
First off, the weather type. The Oarfish prefers the weather to be Foggy, which has a random chance to occur as you play. You can plan to server hop until you find one that has the Foggy weather active, but it will eventually appear over time as you fish passively.
Smokescreen Totem
To force the weather to be Foggy, you can acquire and use a Smokescreen Totem. Head to Mushgrove Swamp and purchase this Totem for a total of 2K coins – it’s located on a rock.
Season
As for the season, the Oarfish likes Winter best. Again, like the weather type, the active season changes intermittently, so you may have to wait a few cycles. You can visit a variety of servers in hopes that you join one that’s currently in Winter, but there are no Totems that can force Winter to activate.
Bait
And lastly, its favourite bait. The Oarfish prefer it when players use the Unusual rarity Squid as bait, which is a pretty common type to accumulate when opening Bait Crates and Quality Bait Crates. Like the other preferences, the Oarfish still has a chance to appear without the usage of bait, but its Mythical rarity means you’re more likely to reel one in if you meet as many of them as possible.
Squid Bait
- Preferred Luck increases by 55 (this is useful when using it to catch an Oarfish!)
- Universal Luck increases by 45 (this makes it a good bait type to use when catching any type of fish)
- Your Lure Speed decreases by 25%, which you can counter with Enchants, a rod with a fast Lure Speed, or by waiting patiently
