Want to know how to catch all of the Fisch Megalodon types? They all share one requirement, with the others appearing on certain real-life days or during events.

Catching All Fisch Megalodon Types
When catching any type of Megalodon, a short cutscene plays!
Megalodon
Part of the Exotic rarity bunch of the Ancient Isles Bestiary, the standard Megalodon relies on the Megalodon Hunt occurring. It works similarly to how the other shark hunts operate! But there are some differences to note.
This Megalodon type prefers Shark Head bait and only appears at the Ancient Isles. You can obtain Shark Head bait by opening Quality Bait Crates, but with it being a Mythical bait type, it’s pretty rare to get. Luckily, the weather type, season, and time of day do not affect the spawn rate of the shark.
A rainbow exclamation mark appears above your head when you get an Exotic catch, and the standard Megalodon has a Progress Loss stat of 80%.
Ancient Megalodon
There seems to be some confusion around the Ancient Megalodon. Unlike the standard version, the Aurora Borealis event must be active. This can happen randomly on a server or a player can start this event by using an Aurora Totem, which costs 500K coins in the Brine Pools.
From the looks of it, this Megalodon type also requires the Megalodon Hunt event to occur. So, overall, you need to wait for the hunt to begin before using an Aurora Totem. I recommend this method, as trying your luck at getting both the Aurora Borealis and the Megalodon Hunt events to happen at the same time is practically unheard of.
Phantom Megalodon
We have a guide on how to get the Phantom Megalodon, so I’ll quickly summarise it in this section, and you can visit our already-existing guide on the topic to find out more!
Again, like the Ancient and standard variants, the Megalodon Hunt event must be active. One of the main differences is the fact that the Phantom version is only available for a limited amount of time, though it’s not clear how long this is.
The other major difference is that the Phantom Megalodon only spawns on the weekends… yes, real weekends. With how rare the Megalodon Hunts are, and the fact that you can only get this shark on Saturdays on Sundays, this is surely one of the hardest catches in the game.
The Megalodon Hunt Event
As a whole, the Megalodon Hunt event lasts between 2 to 5 minutes, so you need to be quick. The game alerts you with a sound effect and text across the screen, which then signals that you need to head out into the ocean to search for the shark. It’s quite large, so it’s easy to spot as you sail around, and you can rest assured that it’ll be somewhere around Ancient Isles!
As each new day starts in-game, there is a 5% chance of the Megalodon Hunt starting. Even then, it lasts for so little time that you need to be paying attention to the game at all times. However, you can speed the process up by using Sundial Totems to force a new day to begin.
