Sony has confirmed that Horizon Zero Dawn will be the next in its string of remasters, officially unveiling the project at today’s State of Play. Its release date is October 31.The new project will include 10 hours of re-recorded dialogue along with other visual enhancements. Those who already own the PS4 version will be able to upgrade for $9.99. While this is the studio’s first official look at project, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered was seemingly accidentally confirmed last week via an ESRB rating. A remaster had been heavily rumored for some time before that, however, with reports of its existence stemming back to 2022. Those rumors only ramped up back in May after Sony pulled Horizon Zero Dawn from PS Plus. Sony hadn’t officially commented on the rumors, but VGC’s 2022 report said the remaster features improved visuals to bring it up to par with its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, as well as added accessibility features, graphics modes, and quality-of life-improvements to gameplay.Still, many have questioned whether Guerilla’s beloved game even needs a remaster yet, especially as it’s already playable on the PlayStation 5 in 4k at 60 FPS following a 2021 update. That said, it’s one of the best-selling PlayStation games of all time, shifting over 24 million units since launch, so there’s plenty of fans to cater to.Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Screenshots – State of Play September 2024Horizon Zero Dawn initially released for PlayStation 4 in 2017, followed by a PC release in 2020.
