Sony’s announcement last week that Horizon Forbidden West would not benefit from a free PS4 to PS5 upgrade – with Dual Entitlement only available for the more expensive Digital Deluxe, Collector’s Edition, and Regalla Editions – didn’t exactly go down a storm with fans. After all, the hardware manufacturer previously pledged to provide a free upgrade to PS5 for its first-party titles, so fans were understandably miffed to hear they had gone back on their word.As a result of this, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO and President, Jim Ryan, has confirmed that anyone who purchase the game on PS4 will be able to freely upgrade to PS5.Here’s Ryan’s statement on the PlayStation Blog:Last year we made a commitment to deliver free upgrades for our cross-gen launch titles, which included Horizon Forbidden West. While the pandemic’s profound impact pushed Forbidden West out of the launch window we initially envisioned, we will stand by our offer: Players who purchase Horizon Forbidden West on PlayStation 4 will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free.Related Content – Sony PS5 Complete Guide – A Total Resource On PlayStation 5Horizon Forbidden West is pencilled in for a February 18, 2022 release on PS5 and PS4.[Source – PlayStation Blog]
