A Honor spokesperson has confirmed to us that global Honor smartphones and tablets will be able to run Google’s Mobile Services going forward.
Honor is undergoing Google’s Play Protect security review and compatibility testing to ensure GMS apps are ready to run on Honor devices.
Honor says that compatible Honor devices will get GMS, but hasn’t specified which ones nor whether older devices already on the market will get GMS support or when.
As part of Huawei’s sale of Honor, the now-independent brand will be able to get access to Google Mobile Services on its smartphones and tablets, and as such will support apps like the Google Play Store, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube, and Google Drive.
