A new report has brought some bad news for fans awaiting Hogwarts Legacy story DLC that has been rumored for a while. Warner Bros. has reportedly canceled the expansion as part of its video game division restructuring efforts, partially due to concerns that it wasn’t meaty enough to justify the price that it wanted to charge.
Hogwarts Legacy story DLC would have launched alongside rumored Director’s Cut edition
This update comes from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who had previously corroborated reports that Hogwarts Legacy’s expansion was planned for launch alongside a Director’s Cut edition. Despite a plethora of rumors, Warner Bros. never officially acknowledged the existence of the DLC and is thus unlikely to comment on its cancelation.
It was previously reported that Rocksteady Studios was tasked with assisting Avalanche Software in the expansion’s development following its high-profile flop suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Rocksteady is now working on its next AAA game, rumored to be a Batman title headed to the PS5 and PS6.
Hogwarts Legacy DLC’s cancellation follows that of Wonder Woman‘s. However, this development will probably surprise fans considering Hogwarts Legacy has been a massive success story for WB Games.
That said, fans can still hold out hope for a sequel.
