Hideo Kojima has just taken the next big step in his career as he continues to live out his dreams. Kojima has signed with Hollywood talent agency WME as he looks to further his film and TV ambitions. In an interview with Variety, Kojima talks about this move and how he’s finally taking the chance to do the kinds of projects he’s wanted to do for years, but couldn’t for one reason or another. He talks about his plan to have the creative freedom he’s always desired in phases, and how Death Stranding has been a catalyst for everything that’s come after it.And that even though he still has multiple game projects on the go, he still desires to do more and branch out beyond the world of games even further than he’s already started to.“For the third phase, I would like to work with talented people from around the world and create something new,” Kojima said. “With “digital” being the keyword. It could be a movie, a game, or something else entirely. I can’t die until then! I don’t think I’m trying to do anything too out of the ordinary!”He also discussed why he chose WME to represent him and help him take these next steps in his career, saying that it all came down to finding a place that understood him, games, and had people he could trust.“Well, there are many big agencies out there. I’ve met many people over the years, but it’s important to me that I work with people who understand games and understand me. I also need people who can basically traffic control all that I do.Until now, I’ve been personally handling exchanges with all the actors that wanted to work together, but it has become difficult to manage on my own. And with all the offers I receive, the most important thing is knowing who to trust. WME created a whole team for me, and they understand me the most.I feel a lot of love from them. They are very powerful within the industry as well, of course. I don’t intend to make myself 10 times busier than I am already. I just want to be able to do everything that I want to do in my remaining lifetime without wasting time. I can also learn more about what the world is demanding, so it’s really great.”By all accounts it seems like Kojima is really living his life to the fullest. It’s not lost on him that he’s in his early 60’s, and at the point of life where many others begin to wind things down.Instead he’s ramping up, not wanting to be too busy as he says himself, but clearly wanting to be busy enough that he’s never bored. As always, it’ll be interesting to see what’s next from Hideo Kojima.Source – [Variety]
