Hex Mortis’, ‘Silt’, Plus Today’s Other New Releases and Sales – TouchArcade

Byadmin

Jun 1, 2022

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for June 1st, 2022. Somehow, we’ve got several new releases to look at today. A few of them look good. A few of them look a bit dubious. We’ve got summaries of all of them, as we tend to. After that, a small list of new sales and a somewhat larger list of expiring sales. If that sounds fun to you, join me as we read on!

New Releases

Pinku Kult: Hex Mortis ($9.99)

A stylish narrative-heavy RPG from the folks at Valorware and Pinku Kult. A rash of disappearances and murders have been happening in Razore City, and the only suspect is a mysterious girl clad in a fox mask. You’ve been tasked to investigate the case and hopefully get closer to the girl to find out what her true intentions are. An RPG based on a fashion brand? Sure, why not? Valorware certainly has earned the benefit of the doubt with its work in this genre, after all.

Flewfie’s Adventure ($9.99)

Valorware somehow has two games for us today, and they couldn’t look more different from each other. Flewfie’s Adventure is an adorable side-scroller with some adventure elements and some shooting bits. Response to the game has been fairly kind on other platforms, and I expect Switch owners will welcome it with equally open arms.

The Big Con: Grift of the Year Edition ($14.99)

This is a 90s-flavored adventure game about a runaway teenaged con artist. In terms of puzzles and such, there isn’t a whole lot going on here. It’s mostly interested in keeping things moving from one wacky situation to another, telling its story and tossing its jokes at the wall as quickly as it can. As long as you know what you’re in for, you’ll probably have a good time with it. I’m not sure what improvements or additions are in this Grift of the Year version, but it’s probably something! A short and silly romp for those who like such things.

Silt ($14.99)

Explore a monochrome underwater world, using your ability to possess other creatures to solve puzzles as you go. The demo for this one offered a promising slice of what could be a very enjoyable game, but I haven’t had a chance to dig into it yet to say much more. Honestly, I’m a bit tired of this Limbo-inspired art style in games, but I do enjoy solving puzzles. We’ll see.

DEATHRUN TV ($14.99)

Merge Games has a spin on the classic Smash TV formula on offer today. It’s a twin-stick shooter where you battle wacky bosses and try to earn Likes that can be used to level up and add new mutations to your character. As you rack up the deaths, new weapons will be unlocked that will hopefully help you live a little longer the next time. It has a bit of a cartoonish look to it to counter-balance the carnage.

Beach Boys: The Perfect Date ($4.99)

Publisher Cooking & Publishing is rapidly moving up my list of garbage game producers to keep an eye on. Here’s its latest serving: a game where you have to answer questions from beach hunks to try to satisfy them sufficiently and make a love connection. You have to try to keep your answers straight, because if you lie it won’t take long for the dudes to figure it out. There are different endings to reach, and you can unlock images of the sandy suitors as you go. Basically a fresh skin applied to the template this publisher introduced in Occultism Interrogation.

Horizon Midnight Sky Combat Aircraft – War Arena Flight Simulator 2022 ($14.99)

Look at that bloody Purple Monkey Dishwasher title. If you don’t have enough respect for your game to come up with anything but a bunch of SEO nonsense for its name, then I don’t have enough respect for your game to bother with its handheld-mode-only butt either. You could set fire to your fifteen bucks and it would be a better use of your money.

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

Capcom games on sale! That only happens approximately every week or two. But it’s never a bad time to buy any of them, except Devil May Cry 2. Leave that one in the bin. What else? Overwatch, I guess? Over in the outbox, Ubisoft is wrapping up its latest sale, along with games like R-Type Dimensions EX, Guild of Dungeoneering, and Tempest 4000. Have a quick look through the lists to make sure I didn’t miss anything you might want to grab.
