Last month, OnePlus India invited us to Sri Lanka to attend a briefing for its upcoming OnePlus 13 series smartphones, which includes the flagship OnePlus 13 as well as the OnePlus 13R.

While there, the company also gave us a trip around the country, where we participated in various activities, including water sports, whale watching, and visiting local temples. Unfortunately, the whales didn’t quite show up — perhaps they were camera shy — but we still managed to get a ton of great shots over three days, which ultimately was the purpose of the trip.

All images and videos seen below were shot on the OnePlus 13 using the latest firmware available at the time (15.0.0.307). All files are straight from the camera with no filters or edits. With that out of the way, let’s look at the samples.

Starting with the main camera on the OnePlus 13, we have a 50MP f1.6 Sony LYT-808 unit outputting punchy images with deep colors and a stark contrast.

The images also have an excellent level of detail that holds up to close examination.

Next is the 50MP f2.0 ultra-wide camera with the Samsung ISOCELL JN5 sensor providing the all-important wide-angle perspective. The colors and dynamic range are a good match for the main camera with a decent level of detail in well-lit environments.

Finally, it’s the turn of the 50MP f2.65 3x telephoto with a Triprism lens and Sony LYT-600 sensor. This was our favorite camera to shoot with thanks to its lovely perspective and excellent image quality.

Not all images are in the default 3x mode. Mixed in are images shot in the 6x mode, which still uses the same camera but with an even tighter crop that is great for isolating subjects.

We also shot a few images in the XPAN mode, which is exclusive to Hasselblad-branded devices, and offers a unique perspective with its extremely wide 65:27 aspect ratio.

Finally, we have the video samples, shot in 4K in 60fps and 30fps. The videos were shot in SDR as there’s no way of demonstrating Dolby Vision in a YouTube video at the moment.

We have our usual test samples in our OnePlus 13 review so be sure to check those out.
