Here is everything you need to know about the Helldivers 2 Railgun Unsafe Mode.
After a few weeks of reckless campaigns to spread Managed Democracy to far-flung planets, Helldivers 2 shows no sign of slowing down. After a couple of recent patches are trying to address the server and matchmaking issues plaguing the title but it’s safe to say that Arrow Head Studio’s breakout title is a huge hit.
Now if you’ve been Helldiving for a while, fighting Termits and Automatons across the known and unknown galaxy you may have encountered the Railgun—a beautiful piece of weaponry created by Super Earth’s finest. Here you’ll learn everyone you need to know about this majestic gun and how to employ its Unsafe Mode.
Helldivers 2 Railgun
The Railgun is a Strategem that Helldivers can unlock at level 20 at the Ship Management Terminal. It’s a big gun with 20 shots of ammunition. Its main deal is that you charge up its shots to deal huge amounts of armor-piercing damage, often hitting enemies in a straight line.
While in Safe Mode, the charge of the caps is at around 75% of the gun’s full strength. You’ll also need to reload the gun after every single shot which makes it a tricky-to-use tool when being swarmed.
The Railgun is a good tool that applies to almost every situation. While it’s not as effective as the Spear or Granade Launcher for their specific use cases, it’ll perform extremely well when going up against armored and boss-type enemies.
Helldivers 2 Railgun Unsafe Mode
The unsafe mode of Helldivers 2’s Railgun is enabled by holding the reload button while having the weapon equipped and selecting ‘Unsafe Mode’ this will remove the 75% charging limit of the gun which will allow players to use it at its full potential.
But there’s a downside, charge the weapon for too long and it’ll explode. Taking out both the player, dealing massive damage around them, and exploding the gun in the process. Using the Railgun to its fullest potential means mastering the time it takes to charge it close to 100% without blowing yourself up.
When shooting the Railgun in first-person mode, you can use the glowing bars next to the sights to control its charge. When it starts glowing red, it’s time to let go of the trigger you’ll have to request another Helldiver.
